NBA Rumors: Chris Paul traded to Rockets ahead of Free Agency
NBA Rumors: The LA Clippers have traded Chris Paul to the Houston Rockets ahead of the start of NBA Free Agency
Chris Paul really, really wanted to play with James Harden and the Houston Rockets. Instead of losing him for nothing this summer, the LA Clippers decided to trade him to the Rockets in exchange for something.
In order to make it happen though, Paul had to opt in to the final year of his contact. He obliged.
According to The Vertical’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Clippers traded Paul to the Rockets in exchange for Patrick Beverley, Lou Williams, Sam Dekker and a future pick.

"[via The Vertical]The Rockets will send the Clippers a package that includes guards Patrick Beverley and Lou Williams, forward Sam Dekker and a 2018 first-round pick (protected Nos. 1-3), league sources told The Vertical. There are smaller parts to the deal, including non-guaranteed contracts, league sources said.Paul had a strong desire to play with Rockets All-Star guard James Harden, which led to the Clippers working out a trade with Houston, league sources said. Los Angeles was able to secure several tradable assets and a draft pick in the deal. The Clippers risked losing Paul for nothing in free agency."
Question is, what’s the fallout to come? From all indications, the Rockets won’t stop here. James Harden and Chris Paul is a good start, but I don’t think Daryl Morey is done. He will likely try to trade for Paul George, or pursuit Carmelo Anthony when, and if, Carmelo Anthony ever gets bought out of New York.
And with Phil Jackson out, that might be a bigger possibility now.

This likely won’t be the only move for the Rockets this summer. Oh, and by the way, it looks like NBA Free Agency has already started. Buckle up.
