Step 2 – Ben Simmons
A lot of us have forgotten about just how good Ben Simmons really is. A multidimensional playmaker who’s passing skills and size combo has never been seen before. Simmons was reported to have grown this summer close to seven feet tall. The Philadelphia 76ers drafted Simmons first overall in the 2016 NBA draft, when he was listed at 6-foot-8.
Tis’ the season to get enamored by young players in the summer league, and since Ben Simmons is still not healthy enough to play this year, it’s good to be reminded just how silky smooth he really is. It’s also great to see he’s got his 90 footer down pat.

The Sixers need to start Simmons at the four next year and surround him with shooters. He is an incredible finisher around the rim and being on the low/ high block is an underrated spot on the floor to playmake. Shooters love kick out three’s and with Simmons’ ability to rebound not only defensively but offensively, it’ll make J.J. Redick and Robert Covington’s three-point percentage skyrocket.
I imagine Simmons as a very versatile offensive Draymond Green type. He’s great off the dribble with a huge body and great handle. His passing and floor vision is way above average, and his unselfishness will allow him to not worry about going out and averaging 20 points a game. His calling will be rebounding, playmaking, and finishing touches around the rim.
Over time Simmons will need to continue to develop a three-point shot and stay healthy. If he does this, step one and step two of the Process looks insanely promising.
