With the Gibson-Butler-Thibs reunion off the table after the hypothetical Redick signing, Taj would have been forced to continue his search for the right fit.

Examining his options, it seems that his most likely landing place would be the Thunder. The team to which he was traded last year remains a good fit.
The Nets likely would have offered more money. The chance to chase the Western Conference elite alongside Russell Westbrook and Paul George would have been too enticing to turn down.
Finding himself in Brooklyn would have been a signal of Gibson resigning himself to mentorship opportunities and cashing checks. OKC offers Taj a real chance to remain relevant.
