Okaro White, Miami Heat

White etched his name into Heat lore last year after the team went 13-0 following his signing. The athletic wing garnered the nickname “13-Okaro” despite hardly playing.

After stints overseas, White is in a make it or break it year with Miami. The Heat are fond of the young player and do have a history or turning overseas journeyman into starters. So it’s not a pipedream for White to think he has a shot at playing big minutes next year.

But he needs a quick start. And so far, at least in summer league, he’s doing just that. White leads summer league in minutes per game as well as scoring, with 19. He’s also averaged eight rebounds per game.

White is on a partially guaranteed contract, so he will got a shot with Miami next year. And with Justise Winslow struggling to gain traction, the team needs an athletic wing to blossom. He’s certainly made a name for himself in Las Vegas. Hopefully, for his sake, it transfers into minutes next year in South Beach.
