NBA Rumors: Kyrie Irving has asked the Cleveland Cavaliers to trade him
NBA Rumors: Kyrie Irving has reportedly asked the Cleveland Cavaliers for a trade which, expectedly, has caught LeBron James off guard
The Cleveland Cavaliers are in disarray. And, from the looks of it, there appears nothing can be done in order to save it.
In recent weeks, the Cavs have fired their general manager – while not replacing him – and have failed to pull the trigger on reported deals for Paul George and Jimmy Butler. Multiple reports indicate that they were close on both, before, you know, Dan Gilbert decided to can David Griffin.
They recovered fairly in free agency by re-signing Kyle Korver and bringing in Jeff Green and Jose Calderon. They also might Derrick Rose.

Although, now, it appears, there are bigger problems.
According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, Kyrie Irving has requested a trade from the Cleveland Cavaliers. Per the report, he wants a bigger role.
"[via ESPN]Kyrie Irving is ready to end his run with the Cleveland Cavaliers, as league sources told ESPN that the guard has asked the team to trade him.The request came last week and was made to Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert. Irving has expressed that he wants to go play in a situation where he can be a more focal point and no longer wants to play alongside LeBron James, sources said."
And this kind of throws everything off this summer. While all the attention has been surrounding LeBron James and his impending free agency next season, Irving demanding a trade – if this report is in fact true – kind of changes everything.
Without Irving on the Cavs roster, LeBron James would almost certainly be forced out the door next summer.
However, then you question who the Cavs would be able to pick up in exchange for Irving – if Cleveland can’t put this fire out. The answer isn’t as clear as you’d think. The going rate for star players right now isn’t great – just look at what the Bulls got for Jimmy Butler and what the Indiana Pacers got for Paul George.
