NBA Rumors: Kyrie Irving is giving the Cleveland Cavaliers the silent treatment after demanding a trade a couple weeks ago
Last week, it was reported that Kyrie Irving had demanded a trade from the Cleveland Cavaliers. Since then, we’ve seen a plethora of rumors that have reinforced that sentiment. From the report that Irving is tired of playing second fiddle to LeBron to LeBron ready to throw hands with Kyrie, it’s actually been pretty outrageous – even for NBA offseason standards.
Regardless of who you’re willing to believe, the bottom line is clear – Kyrie Irving wants out, one way or another. And the Cavs are reportedly ready to appease his wish.
Problem is, with all this news out there it’s going to be increasingly difficult for the Cavs to get what they desire for Irving on the open market. Of course, Cleveland could always elect to retain Kyrie. After all, Irving almost has no leverage, as he’s still under contract for at least the next two seasons.
Although, reconciling the Irving-Cleveland-LeBron relationship could be difficult to accomplish. Especially considering that he is giving nearly everyone in the organization the silent treatment.
The last line of this report is pretty telling. Kyrie has demanded the Cavs to trade them, and that’s that. It really sounds more and more like Irving is doing everything in his power to be in a different uniform come this fall.
At the moment, the two teams that make the most sense are the New York Knicks and Phoenix Suns. Mostly because they both have the assets to make such a move and that they’re both looking for a new star.
The fact that the Knicks and Cavs haven’t made a deal yet is interesting, though. They’re both natural trade partners because Cleveland has been linked to Carmelo Anthony recently and Irving wants to be a Knick.

However, perhaps the fact that a Irving for Melo swap hasn’t happened yet tells us something.
