Paul George isn’t the only player the Oklahoma City Thunder should be excited about this offseason. OKC’s first round pick Terrance Ferguson has the potential to be a special player

Before the offseason fireworks happened, the Oklahoma City Thunder had to improve around Russell Westbrook on a tight budget. They had little financial means to make something happen and a late first-round pick.

They needed to make a trade, get a crazy good free agent (probably to take less), or get lucky in the draft. Well OKC GM Sam Presti got two of those three to happen, and I am here to talk about the young wing they selected with the 21st pick, Terrance Ferguson.

Ferguson was a highly coveted and talented High School recruit. He had offers from numerous big Division 1 programs, including Kansas. T-Ferg, which is what I call him, elected to go the Australian route. Statistically, he wasn’t anything insane.

He played 30 games in Australia and averaged 5/1/1 in 15 minutes per game. Not horrible, but nothing crazy, which is why he might have dropped out of the lottery. However, though, Ferguson was a beast in High School, hence why he was so coveted.

Ferguson went to Advanced Preparatory Academy in Dallas, TX. Terrance was considered the 17th overall best player in this graduation class, so even back then people thought he was an NBA talent.

Even putting up average stats in his rookie season in Australia, Ferguson showed out at the combine and warranted the Thunder to select him. The reason I am so high on him is simple. He is a 6-foot-7 wing who has the complete package. He can shoot as seen in his highlight tape above, his frame makes it very easy to defend along with his quick feet too.

Lastly, his bounce is INSANE. You can check out some of his dunks below.

Ferguson won’t be asked to go crazy his rookie season, which is why I think he will. With Russ, George and Roberson taking the pressure off him both as an overall wing and defensively, he can just play his game.

And I think he will be very, very good in due time. Oklahoma City Thunder fans should be pumped.
