Jeff Teague to Minnesota
After it became known that Jeff Teague was headed to the Timberwolves, Ricky Rubio was shipped out to Utah soon after. Teague may be able to finally provide some stability at the point guard position. Rubio and LaVine had taken turns holding down the position but neither were very consistent. Injuries bogged down both and when either was off the floor the Wolves were much worse. However, with LaVine and Rubio now both gone, Teague will certainly be the lead man.
Jeff Teague has dealt with some inconsistent play since his all-star year with Atlanta. Teague has continued to put up good numbers, but he has yet to reach the next level. Teague after being traded to Indiana last year posted 15.3 PPG and a career high 7.8 APG. The 29-year-old Teague had his strongest season in years with the Pacers.
Teague should be a natural fit alongside Butler, Wiggins, and Towns. Teague will have no pressure to contribute on the scoring end and he can take what the defense gives him. Jeff is also surrounded by a bevy of weapons, so it would not be surprising to see him average a career high in assists this year. The Wolves will be competing for a playoff spot this year, and if Teague provides solid consistent play, Minnesota’s playoff drought may very well be over.
