7. John Wall, Washington Wizards
Wall’s NBA MVP candidacy seems likely to follow in the footsteps of another generational talent at the point guard position: Jason Kidd.
Kidd received at least one vote on eight different occasions. All but two were eighth or worse. In his first season with the Nets, he topped out with a second-place finish in what remains his defining season.
Wall figures to have one of those years soon enough, especially with the East possibly there for the taking as early as next season. For now though, he’ll have to settle for another top 10 finish, just outside of the top contenders for the award.
