NBA Rumors: The Chicago Bulls and Dwyane Wade are expected to reach a buyout in the next couple of months

As soon as the Chicago Bulls decided to trade Jimmy Butler on NBA Draft night, the writing was on the wall. The Bulls, whether they care to admit it or not, are undergoing a full fledge rebuild.

Which explains why they wanted Dwyane Wade to opt out of the second and final year of his contract. Unfortunately, Wade did right by him and took the option to secure his $24 million for this season.

Now, though, the question lingers as to whether or not the two sides will come to a buyout agreement. And even though neither side has actually acknowledged a buyout will take place, it makes too much sense for one not to be agreed upon at some point in the near future.

And according to Chris Friedell of ESPN, a buyout agreement is “expected” to be reached at some point over the next few months.

"[via ESPN]Dwyane Wade isn’t long for the organization’s future and is expected to reach a buyout agreement at some point in the next few months."

A buyout makes sense for both sides. Not only would the Chicago Bulls manage to save a few bucks in such situation, but they’d also manage to offer their full attention to their young prospects.

As for Dwyane Wade, he would get a good chunk of that $24 million and get the choice to play elsewhere for the rest of this season – whether that be with a contender, like the Cleveland Cavaliers, or perhaps even making a return to the Miami Heat.

The Bulls are headed for an ugly season, and there’s really no point for Wade to be a part of that in Chicago. A buyout makes the most sense. And it sounds like ones coming.

Question is, when? And, when it’s completed, where will he land?
