Chandler Parsons, SF, Memphis Grizzlies

This is a different kind of make or break player. Chandler Parsons has shown that when he is healthy he is a very good player in this league. A perfect modern-day wing, with good size, who can shoot and handle. In the 2013-14 season, Parsons was in his third year with Houston and he averaged 16.6 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4 assists per game. Then, he went to Dallas and started off strong, but wasn’t the same after several knee injuries.

Last year in Memphis he was a total shell of himself. Averaging only 6.2 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.6 assists, he only played 34 games before he was totally shut down due to his knee. What’s worse is he is on a contract that pays him $22 million a year. Now entering his seventh season, second with Memphis, he has a lot to prove. Mainly, he has to show he can stay healthy, and live up to the contract Memphis gave him.

A healthy Parsons is exactly what Memphis needs. How good Parsons is this season could go along way in deciding Memphis’s ceiling. Parsons is coming off knee surgery and reports are that he is feeling and looking good. With major surgeries to both knees, it remains to be seen if he can with stand an 82 game season, while being productive.

If Parsons doesn’t fully recover, he will be out of the league sooner than he would like. This is a make or break season not only for Parsons as a Grizzly, but Parsons as an NBA player.
