19. Stan Van Gundy, Detroit Pistons

Another example of a coach that underachieved last year is the great Stan Van Gundy. The Pistons were atrocious in a lot of aspects of the game in 2017 and some even had them as a preseason playoff team.

Detroit won only 37 games last year which is a big step down from the previous year of 44 wins and a playoff berth. Stan is 19 on this list because he has the potential to lead this Pistons team to the playoffs again, and he has proved it in the past.

He has five seasons in his head coaching career with 50 or more wins including an Eastern Conference Championship in 2009 with Orlando. In a weaker Eastern Conference this year, look for Van Gundy and the boys to be back in the playoffs.
