28. Fred Hoiberg, Chicago Bulls
The transition from college to the big leagues has not been kind to Fred Hoiberg so far. During his first season as head coach in 2016 he won 42 games, followed by the 2017 season winning 41 games.
Hoiberg has been spot on with consistency, but it’s consistently underacheiving. The Chicago Bulls are a historic and cherished NBA franchise whose standards are naturally held higher than most other franchises. This, along with a roster built around Jimmy Butler and Dwyane Wade, means there is no time to not make the playoffs (2016) and /or sneak in as the eight seed (2017).
The good news for Hoiberg is that it’s almost impossible for him to underachieve this season. His roster is relatively young, and there will be no expectations moving forward.
