New Orleans Pelicans: Examining the trade market for Anthony Davis
The Haul Would Be Massive
Should they decide to move Anthony Davis next summer, he will still have two years left on his contract before a player option that he’s almost certain to opt out of.
Davis is just 24 years old and just made First Team All-NBA. You can count the times on one hand that a player this talented, established and young has been traded.
The Pelicans will require a return of at least one prime lottery pick, one can’t miss young player, and likely one more piece – either a solid pick or intriguing young piece. With no incentive to win now, they will not be interested in taking back veterans that will make them more competitive, save for those on expiring contracts to make the salaries work.
