NBA Trade Rumors: According to a report, there’s a growing sense of optimism that Carmelo Anthony will be traded by the start of training camp

Carmelo Anthony has found his name in the thick of the NBA rumor mill since the middle of last season. For the most part, though, it’s been all talk and little-to-not progress on an actual trade framework.

With NBA training camps opening in less than a week, however, there’s a growing sense of optimism that Carmelo Anthony will finally get the trade that he’s been waiting for.

According to Frank Isola of the New York Daily News, Melo’s camp is “cautiously optimistic” that he could be traded before Monday, when the Knicks report for media day.

More from Sir Charles In Charge

"[via New York Daily News]Anthony’s camp is cautiously optimistic that a deal will be struck before Monday, and trying not to think about the potential media circus that will take place if Carmelo is still with the Knicks. Two weeks ago, Carmelo’s wife, La La, said the family thought a trade would have been completed by now."

During the last few months, the three teams that have been connected to Carmelo Anthony in any hypothetical trade are the Cleveland Cavaliers, Houston Rockets and Portland Trail Blazers. Up until now, though, the Knicks haven’t exactly been willing to play ball with Melo’s demands.

Anthony wants to be a member of the Rockets; that’s his preference. Although, Houston doesn’t exactly have a ton of tradable talent to choose from. And that’s probably the biggest reason why Anthony is still a Knick.

The clock is now clicking. If the Knicks want to get this Carmelo Anthony issue put behind them before they officially begin the new season, they’re going to need to find and get a deal done before Monday.
