ATLANTA, GA – DECEMBER 07: Taurean Prince

Player most likely to breakout: Taurean Prince

Taurean Prince did not play much at the beginning of last season. But, come playoff time, he forced his way into the starting lineup, playing over 30 minutes per game.

He averaged 11.2 points and 5.3 rebounds in six playoff games. The 6-foot-8 wing showcased his two-way potential while converting on over 55 percent of his postseason field goal attempts. It was an extremely impressive showing for the 12th overall pick in the 2016 draft.

This season, Prince should be starting on opening night. He will have every opportunity to build on his rookie campaign and show that he belongs in the Hawks’ long-term plans.

Prince, in theory, is an ideal wing in the modern NBA. His size and athleticism will allow him to match up with opposing wings and guard multiple positions.

On offense, Prince does not need to do much to be successful. If he bumps up his attempt rate and shoots threes at a league-average rate, he will provide extremely valuable spacing.

These are things that we could start to see happen this season, as Prince gets a chance to be a full-time starter. He certainly has the talent and opportunity.

Prince will be a key part of the Hawks’ future if he grows into this 3-and-D role.
