NBA: Ranking every starting shooting guard heading into 2017-18
By Tony Webb
14. Nicolas Batum- Charlotte Hornets*
Batum hasn’t quite lived up to his 5 year- $120 Million contract given to him two seasons ago. However, Batum is a solid, versatile, good number two option for the Hornets.
Batum averaged 15.1 PPG, 6.2 RPG, 5.9 APG last season. All solid across the board. Would like to see him improve on his 33% shooting from deep.
*Batum is expected to miss at least the first couple of months of the NBA season
13. Victor Olapido- Indiana Pacers
Victor Olapido has had a tough time meeting his career expectations thus far into his career (not all his fault). Thought to be a good number two for Russell Westbrook in OKC, Olapido’s usage rate was a career low last season.
At age 24, Olapido heads to his third NBA team, where his expectations will be high once again, having to fill the shoes of Paul George. A career 15.9 PPG, a decent perimeter shooter and finishes strong around the rim, his time is now to be a star in Indy.
