NBA Trade Rumors: The Milwaukee Bucks should be all-in as they pursue Eric Bledsoe on the trade market. It could close the gap on Cleveland

This is the perfect storm for the Milwaukee Bucks.

The Cleveland Cavaliers traded their second-best player this past offseason, and a couple of their big-name additions (Derrick Rose, Dwyane Wade) haven’t exactly performed as expected thus far this year.

Additionally, because of a freak – and gruesome – injury to Gordon Hayward, the Boston Celtics likely won’t take the next, and most important, step in their rebuild as many expected them to.

The Washington Wizards and Toronto Raptors still have extremely talented rosters, but didn’t exactly make many, if any, improvements this past offseason.

Where does that leave the Eastern Conference? Well, in the hands of one LeBron James – again. Although, if the first three games are any indication, there’s something special brewing in Milwaukee.

It begins with Giannis Antetokounmpo, who is averaging an unbelievable 38 points, 10 rebounds and five assists so far this season while shooting 67 percent from the floor. Milwaukee has played three playoff teams from last season in their first three games. Going 2-1 in that stretch, with their only loss coming at the hands of the Cavs, is really good.

If Giannis is indeed taking ANOTHER step in his progression, and the first three games suggest just that, this could be the perfect time for the Bucks to make a power move.

And while Milwaukee stood idly by as the Celtics, Timberwolves, Thunder and Nuggets made aggressive moves for established stars during the summer, now is the time for the Bucks to strike. And it couldn’t come at a better time with disgruntled star Eric Bledsoe essentially demanding a trade from the Suns.

Based on what has been reported over the last few hours, it seems like Phoenix intends to oblige. This is a move that the Bucks should consider, and be all-in on.

Milwaukee is a pretty deep and talented team all-around, especially when Jabari Parker is healthy. But if there’s any weakness on this team, it’s in the backcourt. Adding a player like Bledsoe would successfully solve that issue.

When Bledsoe is healthy and motivated, there’s no question that he’s one of the most talented 15 point guards in the NBA. Last season, on a lowly Suns roster, Bledsoe averaged a career-high 21 points, five rebounds and six assists. Put him on a team where the defense’s focus will be on Giannis, and those numbers could grow even more – if nothing else, he’ll be more efficient.

But, as is always the case in the NBA, to get something you have to give something up. Short of moving Malcolm Brogdon, Giannis and Middleton, the Milwaukee Bucks should be all-in as they pursue Eric Bledsoe. It could catapult them to the second-best team in the East. And, just maybe, they could be the team to finally dethrone LeBron James and the Cavs in the Conference Finals.
