The Philadelphia 76ers have shut down Markelle Fultz for the next three games, but it sounds like he could miss more after that

Markelle Fultz is not right. Criticize him all you want.

And the Philadelphia 76ers have finally admitted it. The Sixers announced Wednesday that Markelle Fultz has been shut down for the team’s next three games. They also noted that he would be reevaluated next week.

On the bright side, if you’re looking for one, Sixers GM Bryan Colangelo said Wednesday that there is nothing structurally wrong with Fultz’s shoulder. There is no long-term effects or concerns, he echoed.

Question is, after the Sixers pretty much tried to hide this issue for the last few weeks, should we believe them now?

"[via NBC Sports Philadelphia]Bryan Colangelo on Fultz:“The notion that there’s anything structurally wrong or long-term in concern is clearly not the case”“There was never a concerted effort on the part of the organization to change his shot.”“I think it’s appropriate to take a step back, let him take a breath & get him healthy & ready to resume play hopefully next wk.”Fultz has had “a couple” of scans and ultrasounds, Colangelo said. Most recently, he met with a shoulder expert yesterday."

Fultz has looking nothing like his former self in the first week of the NBA regular season. He doesn’t even look close to the person that he was in preseason just a few weeks ago. It’s quite odd.

Simply watching him play, however, it’s pretty clear that he isn’t right – and it might just be this shoulder issue. Through the first four games of the season, Fultz is averaging just six points, two rebounds and two assists per game. He’s also only playing 19 minutes per contest.

It was announced just before the start of the regular season that he would not be starting and coming off the bench. Perhaps the real reason the decision was made for him to come off the bench was because of just this issue.
