NBA Trade Rumors: The Phoenix Suns are trying to attach Tyson Chandler to Eric Bledsoe in potential trades

If the Phoenix Suns are going to be forced to move one of their most valuable pieces in Eric Bledsoe, they’re going to try to get a veteran off their books.

According to New York Times NBA reporter Marc Stein, the Suns have explored the option of essentially attaching Tyson Chandler to any Eric Bledsoe deal. This makes sense on a multiple of levels, especially if the Suns are going to get the big return that they expect.

If Phoenix is going to have to settle for a couple of good assets instead of one really good asset, it makes sense for the team to try and get Chandler’s contract, which will pay him $13-plus million next season, off their books.

However, that actually might be easier said than done.

Bledsoe doesn’t have a small contract either, so essentially whichever team Phoenix makes a deal with will have to devote $28 million in salary to Bledsoe and Chandler next season. That’s a lot of dough for two players that aren’t exactly max guys.

At the ripe age of 35, Chandler is averaging 7.6 points and 10 rebounds per game this season. He’s not a the player he was in his prime, but he’s actually a potentially usable player still. But, of course, it depends where he gets traded to.

A handful of teams have already expressed interest in Eric Bledsoe, including the Milwaukee Bucks and Denver Nuggets. However, a deal doesn’t appear imminent. But, in the NBA, a deal can materialize in a matter of moments.

This feels like the type of move that’s just going to happen at any given moment. One thing that Phoenix could be waiting for is whether or not Cleveland is willing to put the Brooklyn pick on the negotiating table. If so, this could get really interesting. Keep an eye on that.
