The Milwaukee Bucks are at a pivotal point for their franchise trajectory. Keeping Malcolm Brodgon – and looking to deal Jabari Parker – is the right move.
The term “generational player” is thrown around a lot these days. In a sports-talk culture where no superlative is safe, it’s no longer good enough to simply be a “star” or even a “superstar.” We have to do one better.
Even so, some guys deserve the label.
Steph is generational because he raised the ceiling on efficiency by understanding the simple math of three being more than two. Shaq qualifies because he couldn’t be stopped when he put his mind to it. LeBron joins the club because he can play every position on the floor.
Giannis Antetokounmpo? He takes a little bit from all of them. He’s efficient, he’s positionless, and he can’t be stopped.
For a few years we’ve thought that LeBron’s combination of size, speed and strength made him the perfect basketball specimen. Giannis is LeBron if you put him on a medieval torture rack, except instead of killing him, it just made him taller, longer, and springier. Seventh in MVP voting last year, he’s somehow leveled up.
This is all to say that: a) the Bucks have something spicy on their hands here, and b) they ‘s do well not to screw it up. Yet, Milwaukee may be on the verge of doing exactly that.
