Brogdon is a Keeper

Over the last several days, Malcolm Brogdon’s name has surfaced as the primary piece that Phoenix is pining after in any potential Eric Bledsoe deal. Putting aside the issues related to age (24 versus 27), injury history (Brogdon has none, while Bledsoe has had multiple knee surgeries), and contract (2 years, $3 million against 2 years, $30 million), Milwaukee would be ignoring all the evidence pointing to Brogdon being the Greek Freak’s ideal running mate.

Last season, of the eight players Antetokounmpo shared at least 500 minutes of court time with, he had the best net rating with Brogdon, outscoring opponents by 5.7 points per 100 possessions in just over 1300 minutes.

It gets better. Of Milwaukee’s 36 three-man unit combinations that played at least 300 minutes together, Brogdon was not only a member of the four most successful ones, but also part of Giannis’ best combo, along with Greg Monroe. That trio outscored opponents by 13.2 points per 100 possessions in a not-insignificant 613 minutes together, a figure that would have led the league.
