Cleveland Cavaliers head coach Ty Lue says the team isn’t have fun right now, and that’s not good

The Cleveland Cavaliers are 3-4 two weeks into the NBA season. They’ve lost four of their last five to the Brookyn Nets, Orlando Magic, New Orleans Pelicans and New York Knicks. Their only win over that span came against arguably the worst team in the NBA, the Chicago Bulls.

So when Cavs coach Tyronn Lue says the team isn’t having fun right now, it’s not actually a surprise. After all, how could any team be having fun when they’ve lost four of their last five.

However, that one likely off-hand comment shouldn’t be taken with a grain of salt.

More from Sir Charles In Charge

Although, every time I hear that a LeBron James team “isn’t having fun” I’m reminded of the words that Wade echoed in an interview after the Big 3 broke up in Miami.

"[via Bleacher Report]“It was great, you know, we went to the Finals four years in a row, and it was everything we wanted from that standpoint, but sometimes throughout that run, at certain times, it just wasn’t fun,” Wade said. “Individually, it was great having certain relationships and having my best friend here with me, but all of us didn’t have fun all the time."

Trying to live up to big expectations year in and year out could lead to this. It happens to almost every high profile team. Question is, has it already happened to the Cleveland Cavaliers?

This is what Lue said:

"[Pro Basketball Talk]“Off the court we’ve got great chemistry, great bond,” Lue said. “On the court we just gotta be better. Like, talking, communicating, enjoying the game together. Having fun. Right now guys are not having fun.”"

The two statements – by Wade and Lue, respectively – actually sound eerily similar. Couple that fatigue with the fact that the team traded away arguably their second best player this offseason, and it only adds to the weight on LeBron’s shoulders.

The Cleveland Cavaliers, assuming health, will likely right the ship in the regular season and figure out a way to make it through the East in the playoffs – the return of Isaiah Thomas should help, and maybe he jolts this team out of their funk.

But if the Cavs fall again to the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals, the questions are only going to grow stronger. Is this the summer that LeBron James leaves Cleveland (again)?
