6. John Collins, Atlanta Hawks

Stats: 10.6 points, 7.8 rebounds, 1.2 blocks

John Collins might be the most boring rookie to watch on this list, but that doesn’t change the fact that he is one of the most effective. We live in an era where half of the PF’s/C’s have 3-point range; Collins is not among them.

Instead, Collins is an old school banger in the paint. It isn’t pretty, but he gets the job done. He actually does have a nice looking hook shot and a pretty nice mid-range jumper as well, but most of his production comes from doing the dirty work.

He stands at 6-foot-10, weighs 230 pounds, and can jump out of the building. Collins hasn’t shown much “star power” but he has shown a lot of consistency. Collins may never be the core piece of any team, but he could end up averaging 15-17 points and 9-11 boards in the NBA.
