NBA: 5 hypothetical trades that make sense
By Evan Dyal
Milwaukee Bucks Receive: Eric Bledsoe and Jared Dudley
Phoenix Suns Receive: Greg Monroe and Jabari Parker, 2019 second-round pick (from Denver)
Why it Makes Sense for the Bucks – The Bucks need a little more firepower. While they rank 9th in offense, there are times where the offense gets stagnant around Giannis. This trade gives them a 20-point scorer, while not having to give up Malcolm Brogdon.
These two both have good size so that they can play together in two-guard lineups. Bledsoe is also an excellent defender and should fit in well with Milwaukee’s hyper-aggressive scheme. Dudley has played with the Bucks and Jason Kidd before and give the Bucks another shooter, smart team defender, and good veteran presence.
Why it Makes Sense for the Suns – Bledsoe is gone no matter what, and right now his value is not very high on the market. The downside of this trade is they don’t get Brogdon, but they solve their issues up front with Greg Monroe. Phoenix’s frontcourt is one of the worst in the league, and Greg Monroe will give them some inside scoring, and he is a terrific passer – I assume they move Tyson Chandler in a separate move.
Then with Parker, you get a young and unique talent filled with offensive potential. Yes, the injuries and lack of defense are concerning, but scorers like this don’t come around very often. It would leave a logjam at wing with Parker, T.J Warren and Josh Jackson, but you don’t pass on talent. Those three could unleash several interesting small ball lineups. Plus a future second-round pick for a team that is rebuilding is always valuable.
