Miami Heat Receive: Julius Randle and Ivica Zubac

Los Angeles Lakers Receive: Justice Winslow, Okaro White, and Rodney Mcgruder

Why it Makes Sense for the Heat – Miami is off to a slow start, and they don’t have a lot of money or future draft picks, so a trade is the best way to get better. The Heat have a weakness at the four and Randle solves that. James Johnson is better off the bench as a point-whatever. Randle gives them a young power forward with lots of upside.

The fit next to Whiteside isn’t perfect, but Randle is better than what they have now. Miami needs help on the boards and better passers. Randle solves both of those problems. Plus, Zubac is a nice young center the Heat can develop. A starting five of Randle, Whiteside, Dion Waiters, Josh Richardson and Goran Dragic is pretty formidable.

Why it Makes Sense for the Lakers – Randle is only playing 19 minutes behind Larry Nance Jr. and doesn’t fit the Lakers long-term plans. The Lakers have been better on defense this year, but they could use more help mainly on the wing. Insert Justise Winslow who already is a good defender, and he has upside offensively.

Rodney McGruder gives them another excellent wing defender. Okaro White is an intriguing second-year power forward, who can replace some of Randle’s minutes.
