Sir Charles In Thought: Injuries, thanks to early NBA season start?
By Dante Nelson
Sir Charles In Thought recaps the previous week of NBA news. This week, we talk about injuries, slow starts for elite teams, and a few odd stories.
What’s up with these jerseys?
When the NBA announced that Nike would be producing the official game jerseys for the players, nobody really expected that NBA games would turn into a variation of strip poker. Now, jersey tears have happened in the past, but not like this and not this often.
Have you seen Ben Simmons’ rip? His jersey ripped in half. I’ve never seen that before. Like, it was open like an Iron Man suit and you thought Simmons was just taking it off. It looked like that was how it was supposed to be made.
I’m just waiting for that posturizing dunk victim whose jersey tears during the aftermath. That dunk will be legendary.
In all seriousness, this is a problem and it’s actually a major game decider. Imagine this. The Spurs and Warriors are tied at 93. 6.3 seconds left. Kevin Durant is throwing it in. Steph Curry is set to run a screen set by Draymond Green. Danny Green is chasing Curry around the screen and riiiiip! Danny tugs at Curry’s jersey.
From what I can tell, the player is removed from the floor, but the game doesn’t wait. So, Curry is out of the game in the clutchest moment of the game. No, the Warriors don’t have any timeouts. Is this a time for an official timeout? What happens here?
How realistic is this scenario? Probably not all that possible, but, c’mon, it is realistic.
