Ironic early season start?

Players have been going down with injuries this season. Gordon Hayward was a big one. The clip of Jeremy Lin’s reaction to his own injury breaks my heart.

A few coaches have wondered if the injuries may be because of the early start to the season. This is ironic considering the NBA started the season earlier to ease the physical strain of a compact schedule by eliminating back to backs and those four games in five nights deals.

So, now what? If the earlier season start is to blame for the increase of injuries, what does the NBA do? Beats me. I’d guess they won’t do anything different. If this did happen because players had less time than usual to get into NBA shape, I think players will adjust for next season.

I hate saying that, because the growing pains of this experiment is potentially putting careers in jeopardy. At the same time, we don’t actually know if this earlier start to the season is the cause for concern with these injuries. But, I’m a Sixers fan. I may be numb to injuries. Markelle Fultz…sheesh. Hit the comments; let me know what you think about that.
