After losing Gordon Hayward on opening night, the Boston Celtics were already written off but they still have the look of a championship contender

Going into the new NBA season, the Boston Celtics were already written off to lose to the Cleveland Cavaliers somewhere in the playoffs. That expectation did not go away especially after the gruesome injury that Gordon Hayward suffered against the Cavs within the first five minutes of the first game of the brand new regular season.

Boston would go on to lose the game 102-99, yet no optimism from anybody had occurred for this team.

The day after the injury radio show hosts had already declared the Celtics to fall either out of playoff contention or to be a sixth seed at best. They would follow up that night with Giannis Antetokounmpo dropping 37 on their heads and losing to the Bucks 108-100.

After that game, though, something changed whether it was a collective effort to realize that Gordon Hayward was not coming back, Brad Stevens genius, or everybody on that roster believes in one another to do something special.

Since those two losses, the Boston Celtics have gone on to win 10 straight and have taken the top spot in the Eastern Conference. Despite the early success can we already say that Boston is the best in the East or can we expect another team to take the top spot by seasons end? Together, we will take a deep dive into the amazing ten game win streak the Celtics are on mainly looking into the key contributors.
