Utah Jazz: Is it possible to survive without Rudy Gobert?
By Evan Dyal
Overview
Quin Snyder is making all the right moves to keep his offense afloat, but the Utah Jazz can’t survive this injury in the West. Expect their offense to get better as the season goes on, but the ceiling is low. Utah will still be a pain to play against, but probably will be on the outside looking in when the playoffs start.

If there is one bright side to the Gobert injury, it’s the fact that they can increase Favors’ trade value. Trading him by the deadline is the right thing to do. The sample size is big enough to realize him, and Gobert are not the long-term frontcourt of the future. Luckily for the Jazz, teams will be interested in Favors. He is still only 26, and he is above average on both ends. Here is one trade that makes sense.
How about sending Favors and a second-round pick to Chicago for Bobby Portis and Robin Lopez. Chicago is a rebuilding team who gets an extra draft pick, and a center they can pair with Lauri Markkanen for years to come.
Utah would get a great back up to Gobert in Lopez, and a young, exciting player in Portis who would give the starting offense some juice. Just a thought.

This could be a way to help the Utah Jazz in the short and long-term. Right now they are well coached, play hard and have a lot of solid players. The problem is there ceiling is low; the Gobert injury almost kills their chance at the playoffs. Utah has to shake it up a little if they want to compete now and in the future.
