LA Clippers: Examining the DeAndre Jordan trade market
Examining DeAndre Jordan’s trade value, assuming the LA Clippers could shop him at some point this year
The LA Clippers woke up Tuesday morning with a record of 5-11 after a loss to the New York Knicks. To say they played the game with a passing interest would be putting it lightly. It was their ninth loss in a row in a season that is quickly spiraling out of control.
While “shocking” is a bit too strong a word to describe the downfall, it’s not far off. Everyone figured the Clippers would Blake and Doc their way to a win total in the mid-40’s. Some even thought that LA, finally freed from the tyranny of the Chris Paul regime, would coalesce into a unit greater than the sum of its parts, with point-Griffin running the show and a defense led by Pat Beverly and DJ snuffing out pick and rolls at every turn.
While that ship hasn’t sailed yet, it’s beginning to pull up anchor. LA has a -1.7 net rating, 22nd in the league, which portends trouble. The end of November features four winnable games, but after that, things get dicey. They’re on the road for 9 of 15 in December, and their one three-game homestand comes against the Wolves, Wizards and Raptors. Twenty losses by the time Santa wedges himself down the chimney isn’t out of the question.
If things do continue to go south, Jerry West should sell off everything that isn’t nailed down, and he should start with the guy who is one of only four players – along with LeBron, Russ, and Steph – to make an All-NBA team in each of the last three years.
