Injury

Mike Conley has missed nearly a month with Achilles soreness. There is no definitive timetable for his return.

Impact

When Conley went down, the Grizzlies were 7-6 after initially starting the season 5-1. Since then, the Grizzlies have fallen to 8-18 and the franchise has gone into crisis mode. Including the last two games Conley played in, the Grizzlies have lost 14 of their last 15. In the midst of that steak, the team sided with Marc Gasol and fired Coach David Fizdale.

A franchise that was once synonymous with consistency is now looking at a bleak future. Conley’s injury isn’t the sole reason for these developments but it is hard to imagine that things would be this bad if the Grizzlies had their star point guard. When Conley returns it might already be too late to save the season.

This is a team that is limited by huge contracts signed by Conley, Gasol and Chandler Parsons. There is not much upside on the roster and there are not a lot of ways for them to improve. It’s not a good time be a Grizzlies fan.
