The Luka Doncic or Marvin Bagley question is one that will dominate the 2018 NBA Draft, but is there one clear answer?

We are only in December, but it seems already that the No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft will either be Duke’s Marvin Bagley or Slovenia’s Luka Doncic.

The great thing is, no matter who is the choice, you can’t go wrong with either prospect.

Luka Doncic, in case you’re not familiar with the Slovenian prospect that has taken NBA Draft gurus by storm over the last couple of years, is a 6-foot-8 wing with guard handles and top tier athletic ability. He has also shown the ability to hit a consistent 3-pointer, too.

Essentially, he’s as a complete player as you’ll find in the 2018 NBA Draft class.

Right now, as a 19-year-old in the second best basketball league in the world (EuroLeague), Doncic is averaging 16.6 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game. He’s also shooting over 46 percent from the field and 34 percent from 3-point range.

He can really do it all, and fits the modern NBA so well. He’s athletic enough to drive the lane and is a good enough shooter to hit open jumpers. He’s an NBA scout’s dream. Another great thing about Doncic is that he’s not particularly bad at anything. He’s exceptional on defense and will only get better as he continues to grow into his size.

Luka Doncic is the wing that can honestly play the 1-3 at the NBA level.

On the other hand, Marvin Bagley is just an absolute monster. He just imposes physical will on opponents as well as being so gifted in the talent department. As a freshman at Duke, Bagley is averaging 22 points, 11 boards, two assists, a block and steal per game.

He’s shown absolute dominance all over the court, from his opening jump at Duke. Oh, and by the way, Bagley is also shooting an absurd 60 percent from the floor and 30 percent from 3-point land.

Bagley has also shown the ability to take over games and have the big play factor in him. When down 17 to Florida, Bagley put the Blue Devils on his back and scored 30 to secure a Duke comeback. Bagley is essentially a 7-foot mammoth that moves up and down the court as fluid as anyone out there.

When it’s all said and done, neither of Luka Doncic or Marvin Bagley will be the wrong selection at No. 1. Both will be studs at the next level.
