In this week’s Sir Charles In Thought, we take a special look at five teams who have been dealing with injuries.

We’ll look at how they have fared and what to expect for the rest of the season.

Boston Celtics

You probably know this one. Look, if you haven’t seen the injury, good for you. Stay away. Just trust me when I say it’s really…really bad.

I’m talking about Gordon Hayward, of course. So, Hayward was a big piece that the Celtics got during free agency. Eventually, he was paired with Kyrie Irving. Those two, with Al Horford and a host of youngsters, were going to rip the East apart.

Instead, we saw Hayward go down immediately in the start of the regular season. Shortly after that, the Celtics won 18 straight games because sure. Usually, when a big star goes down, things take a shift downwards. However, the Celtics are interesting because they just about have a completely different roster than last season’s Eastern Conference finalists. So, we didn’t really know what kind of team we had.

Well, we do know that Hayward is technically slotted to be out for the entire season, although there is talk about him coming back a little earlier to play in the playoffs. Not sure I’d be excited about that, though.

Meanwhile, the Celtics are real. They are legit. Defense is a key factor but their young players have really stepped up their game. It’s impressive.
