NBA Rumors: Detroit Pistons shooting guard Avery Bradley is expected to miss at least another week as he continues to recover from injury

The Detroit Pistons have been one of the most surprising stories of the 2017-18 NBA season thus far. Not only are they blowing away expectations, but their success has out of left field.

And a big part of their 17-13 start is Avery Bradley, who was acquired from the Boston Celtics over the summer. Bradley is averaging 16 points per game on a career high 41 percent shooting from 3-point range, and he’s a beast on the defensive side of the ball.

Although, he’s missed the team’s last two games with a groin injury and adductor strain. Because it hasn’t really improved in the last few days, Pistons head coach Stan Van Gundy has elected to shut him down for at least a week.

More from Sir Charles In Charge

"[via Detroit News]“He’s going to be shut down for at least a week,” coach Stan Van Gundy said. “We’ll go at least seven days and then week to week.“It’s similar to a sports hernia — it’s not that, but the symptoms are the same.”"

Van Gundy didn’t necessarily say that Bradley would be back in a week, just that they’re going to reevaluate his process after that. Which is just the safe route of saying that they really don’t know when he’ll be back, but at the very least SVG won’t have to address it for another week.

Bradley will certainly be missed, but the fact that the team has won the two games in his absence is a good sign moving forward.

Perhaps they won’t completely fall out of the top 4 in the East with Bradley sidelined with the injury. And after the start that they’ve had thus far, it would be a shame for it all to just fall apart because of this injury.

Over the next week, the Pistons will face off against the Mavs, Knicks, Pacers and Magic. If Bradley just misses a week, those are manageable games for the Pistons.
