Detroit Pistons: A (Healthy) Backup Power Forward

DET gets: Cristiano Felicio/Bobby Portis

CHI gets: Jon Leuer/Henry Ellenson

Some notes on this deal:

  • The Pistons are $16,679,423 over the cap, and $3,493,577 over the tax line. While moving Leuer’s contract doesn’t solve their salary cap issues, it does make the Pistons younger and bring in promising young talent.
  • The Bulls get rid of a player that reportedly still isn’t talking to the guy whose jaw he broke, and get rid of a player who they signed to a questionable deal. Taking on Leuer is a bit of a risk and doesn’t really fit in with Chicago’s timeline, but he is expected back soon; and if Detroit throws in a draft pick or two, this deal becomes very plausible.
