2017 NBA Christmas wish list: What every team ask for this holiday season

Charlotte Hornets: Playmakers
When I was originally doing research for this article, I wrote that Steve Clifford might have to channel his inner mad scientist in order for Charlotte to take that next step. Unfortunately, in the time between me doing that research and me writing this article, he has had to step away from the team for personal reasons, so I sincerely just hope he’s doing alright.
While Clifford has been away, Charlotte has had some serious issues:
- Charlotte is no. 3 in turnovers per game (as in third best) at 13.5 a game
- Charlotte is 27th in the league in assists per game – 20.4
- Did I mention that there are only 30 teams in the NBA
Now, turnovers are great to have few of as a team, but it actually highlights how few facilitators the Hornets have. Maybe they have some in-house options?
What about MCW? 29.7 eFG%. Nope.
- Monk has gotten some run at the 1 and looked promising, but he’s undersized
- Bacon can in spurts, but honestly the only one they have is Kemba, and he cannot play 48 minutes a game
- Batum has only played in 16 games, and while a solid facilitator, he cannot stay healthy and they’re stuck with his contract…. unless they trade him
In other words, Charlotte is stuck, so barring another trade, Charlotte is headed towards another lottery selection.
