Orlando Magic: Nikola Vucevic to miss two months with injury
The Orlando Magic will have to turn their season without Nikola Vucevic who is expected to miss two months with a broken left hand
The losses just keep on piling up for the Orlando Magic.
Adding injury to insult, the Magic learned that they would have to turn their season around without the services of their best player. Nikola Vucevic is out 6-8 weeks after suffering a fracture in his left hand.
Orlando has lost eight straight games and 19 of their last 22 overall. And it’s probably about to get even worse.
Prior to his injury, Vucevic was the team’s third leading scorer (17.4) and leader in PER (21.5). Vucevic was also adding 9.3 rebounds per game.
Question is, what’s next for the Magic? After a nice start to the season, Orlando has fallen off significantly. Losing Vuc for nearly two months will likely put of spotlight on this team’s weaknesses.
Orlando has to make important decisions on a number of players in the coming weeks. Expect the Magic to be somewhat active around the NBA Trade Deadline, as they have a few players who could help a contender or two.
I’m sure this isn’t the season that many projected in and around the Orlando Magic organization, but it’s unfortunately something that we’ve come to know. Interestingly, Magic head coach Frank Vogel isn’t all turned off by the team’s shortcomings.

In fact, he’s staying positive and maintaining that he likes the direction that the Magic are heading in. Is this simple “coach speak” or is there something more to this? It’s hard to tell at this point, but there’s no question that there isn’t much to like on the part of Orlando.
It’s a long season and a lot can change, but the Orlando Magic might have too many holes to fill than they have quick fixes for.
