The LA Clippers are expected to get a moral boost with the return of Blake Griffin, who is expected to return before the new year

The LA Clippers started the season horribly. At one point in the early season, the Clippers dropped 11 of 12 games. To make things worse, Blake Griffin was lost to a knee injury.

Since then, though, even without one of their biggest stars, they’ve been a solid 8-8. The team has gone 5-4 in their last nine games and is only 3.5 games out of the 8th seed in the Eastern Conference. Considering where this team was just a couple weeks ago, it could’ve been a lot worse.

And they’re about to get another shot in the arm. According to Brad Turner of the LA Times, Griffin is hoping to return from his left knee injury before the start of the new year.

Griffin has missed the team’s last 13 games, and there are still more questions than answers on this roster. However, if the goal is still to make the playoffs and potentially make a run, then Griffin couldn’t have been coming at a better time.

Though, if LA is going to make a run in the competitive West, then don’t have a great margin for error. Plus, they also have to make a decision on DeAndre Jordan, who becomes a free agent after this season.

There have already been rumblings about the Clippers trading Jordan, but no substantial talks. Again, reportedly. This is going to be an interestingly storyline to follow over the course of the next two months.

The Clippers need to make some huge decisions over the next few weeks, decisions that will help shape the future of this franchise. Blake Griffin returning helps, but at this point it might be too little too late for a flawed and significantly less talented LA Clippers roster.
