Cleveland Cavaliers: Acclimatise Isaiah
The Cleveland Cavaliers got off to a porous start this season, starting their campaign 5-7. They’re 19-5 since, thanks to the MVP calibre play of LeBron James.
Sitting 3rd in a congested three horse race for the East’s top spot, Cleveland find themselves in good stead heading into the New Year. A legitimate chance at the one seed, with Isaiah Thomas yet to debut. Thomas is expected to be back by early January, with many marking Cleveland’s trip to TD Garden as his possible return date.
A two-time all-star, Thomas put up admirable outputs of 29 points and six assists, on respectable 46/38/91 splits last year. His return will be a welcome sight for the Cavaliers, who would love to lessen LeBron’s load as we head into the second half of the season.
The priority for the Cavs however should be to acclimatise Thomas. Get him used to playing within the offence so he is as comfortable as possible come the post-season. Naturally, LeBron will get some “rest” (less time being the focal point) as a bi-product of IT’s return.
