In our latest edition of NBA Power Rankings, we explain why it’s finally time to sell on the Cleveland Cavaliers

In a few months, it will likely all come crashing down for the Cleveland Cavaliers and LeBron James.

Even though the Cavs usually fall into some sort of mid-season rut every season, it’s different this year. Not only do the Cavs have the NBA’s worst defense at the midway point of 2017-18, but they’ve also been more bad than good overall.

This season, Cleveland just had one really good month. Over the course of a stretch that extended from mid-November to mid-December, the Cavs won 18 of 19 games. Before and after that stretch, though, they were bad – non-playoff team bad.

Without that 18-1 run, this team would likely be at the bottom of the Eastern Conference playoff picture, if there at all.

Cleveland is 8-15 in games before and after that impressive 19 games. That’s terrible.

Maybe the Cavs do turn it around – they’ve lost 8 out of their last 11 games – and maybe they still make the NBA Finals. But there’s no way this team, as currently constructed, has any chance at beating the Golden State Warriors.

It’s time to sell on the Cleveland Cavaliers. The end is near.

Here is this week’s NBA Power Rankings.
