NBA Trade Rumors: The Portland Trail Blazers are among the teams interested in trading for DeAndre Jordan ahead of the trade deadline

As the NBA trade deadline draws near, there are a number of teams lining up their assets in order to get their guys for the stretch run. And one of the players that will likely be the most sought after in the coming weeks is DeAndre Jordan.

The Cleveland Cavaliers and Milwaukee Bucks are two teams that have already shown reported interest in Jordan. However, another team has reportedly joined the race.

According to New York Times writer Marc Stein, the Portland Trail Blazers are another team that appears interested in trading for the LA Clippers center.

More from Sir Charles In Charge

"[via New York Times]The Trail Blazers are among the teams that have tried to engage the Clippers in trade talks for DeAndre Jordan, according to league sourcesBut league sources say that the Clippers have yet to receive a proposal from Cleveland, Milwaukee, Portland or anyone else that they’ve found seriously tempting"

In addition to reporting the Blazers’ interest, Stein also notes that the Clippers haven’t received an offer that is good enough for their liking. Which likely suggests two things.

For one, they aren’t sold on moving DeAndre Jordan. Not yet. That could change in the next few weeks but, for the time being, it’s going to take a generous offer to move the Clippers off that thinking. Or, an extended losing streak ahead of the trade deadline.

Secondly, the asking price must be high. I’m not sure what the Cavs, Bucks and Blazers exactly offered, but it’s safe to assume that the asking price must be high or that the Clippers are – rightfully so – trying to create a bidding war for Jordan.

Either way, this is probably the best course of action for the Clippers right now. There’s still roughly three weeks before the league’s trade deadline, and there’s really no point in getting a deal done now. Jordan is somewhat in demand, and the Clippers should take full advantage of that.

Question is, will this backfire on the Clippers?
