NBA Trade Rumors: The Cleveland Cavaliers are reportedly progressing on acquiring George Hill from the Sacramento Kings

The Cleveland Cavaliers may have lost 10 of their last 13 games and may be closing to the 8th seed in the East compared to the top-seeded Boston Celtics, but help sounds like it’s on the way for LeBron James and company.

According to multiple reports, the Cavs are working on a handful of potential trades. We’ve heard names like Kent Bazemore, DeAndre Jordan and Lou Williams all connected to the Cavs over the course of the last two weeks.

However, the one name that appears closer than ever is George Hill. ESPN is reporting that the Cavs and Sacramento Kings are progressing and could strike a deal soon. ESPN’s Brian Windhorst believes it will happen.

"[via ESPN]The Cleveland Cavaliers are progressing in conversations on a deal to acquire Sacramento Kings guard George Hill, league sources told ESPN.The Cavaliers and Kings are discussing a package centered on guard Iman Shumpert and forward Channing Frye, league sources said. The teams also are discussing a second-round pick, sources said."

Hill is a solid point guard that will help the team with his above average spot-up 3-point shooting and has a history as a good defender. Though, there have been questions about his ability to defend at a high level ever since sustaining a toe injury last season.

But perhaps a change of scenery is what Hill needs – moving from Utah to Sacramento wasn’t exactly the best course of action for Hill last season.

Even though Hill is only averaging 10 points per game this season – his latest output since the 2013-14 season – he’s shooting a career high 45 percent from 3-point range this season, which is exactly what the Cavs need. He’ll fit right into the offense.

This is just one move that the Cavs are reportedly working on. Assuming that this deal goes down sooner or later, this likely won’t be the only move that Cleveland makes in the coming weeks. The Cavs have issues and can’t afford to sit on their hands at the trade deadline. And history suggests that they won’t.
