What’s next for the Pelicans?

I have to be honest here. I was never a big fan of the New Orleans Pelicans trading for DeMarcus Cousins. I’m part of the contingency that believes the NBA is quickly moving way from the big man.

In other words, your best players should not be bigs. And that’s exactly what the Pelicans are. However, more than midway through the season, the Pelicans are in the 6th seed out West and only one back (in the loss column) of the 4 seed and three games back (in the loss column) of the 3 seed.

So perhaps this will work out for the Pelicans after all. With that said, though, what’s next for New Orleans? Even though they’re going to be a playoff team, they’re still far behind the likes of the Golden State Warriors and Houston Rockets.

So, what could they realistically do? Not much. They’re cap strapped and don’t have much flexibility. So, should they re-sign DeMarcus Cousins this summer? Or shop him before the trade deadline?
