NBA Trade Rumors: The Atlanta Hawks will be big sellers at the trade deadline, and they have pieces that contenders should target

It’s no surprise that the Atlanta Hawks have been performing horribly this season and the rest of the league isn’t going to jump out and offer the Hawks an offer, but the talent is there teams just have to open their eyes a little more.

Atlanta is still expected to be active during this year’s trade deadline. Mutlipele rumblings have the Hawks looking to move Kent Bazemore, Ersan Ilyasova, and Marco Belinelli. The three veterans could attract some attention, but here’s what they can bring to a team.

Kent Bazemore

Bazemore’s 6-foot-5 frame and his ability to attack the rim at a much higher rate than most guards in the league will open up more shots on the perimeter. His versatility to play the 2 or the 3 is helpful to most teams who are adopting the small ball method. Any team who is lacking a key role player, possible starter, Bazemore should be a priority.

More from Sir Charles In Charge

Ersan Ilyasova

Teams looking for a role player to simply come off the bench and knock down a couple of treys, and grab a few rebounds plays a role in looking for those key pieces to win a championship. Ilyasova is highly consistent from three and easily compares to a guy like Channing Frye..A decent role player, Ilyasova can be a good fit for an organization. Even Though the value isn’t that high, Ilyasova can be a sleeper by the deadline.

Marco Belinelli

A threat from deep, Belinelli is a player you really have to take a second look at. At 31 years old, not much is asked of Belinelli, but any team he ends up on, he puts in the work. Winning an NBA championship really upped his resume due to being one of San Antonio’s options off the bench. I know some teams will be interested in the experienced vet, but it most likely will be a trade deadline special.

If the Hawks could deal Bazemore and get a guard who can help Taurean Prince in the frontcourt could show a small improvement in the Hawks success this season. Clearly in a rebuild stage, the Hawks are a team that never fails to utilize the trade deadline.

With Bazemore’s sudden improvement in play the past month it can add more value to a deal.

Expect teams like the Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors, and San Antonio Spurs to be interested and it could either fair out well or terribly for the Hawks. Top teams are only looking for role players to prepare them for the grueling postseason and Atlanta has value there.

Atlanta will pull the trigger come deadline day, but it might come with minutes to spare.
