Getting Younger and More Athletic

Bulls Get: Evan Fournier, Bismack Biyombo

Magic Get: Robin Lopez, Nikola Mirotic, Justin Holiday, Quincy Pondexter

Why the Bulls Like it:

Looking at the Bulls roster, they have Dunn as the future Point Guard, Lavine as the future Shooting Guard, and Markannan as the future Power Forward. That leaves just the Small Forward and Center positions as question marks, and this deal helps to answer both.

Both players have long, expensive contracts, but they’re both only 25 years old and fit with the Bulls young core. They’d really give the Bulls a balanced young roster with a lot of upside, and it wouldn’t cost them any draft picks.

Why the Magic Like it:

Orlando has some expensive decisions to make in the near future with Payton, Hezonja, and Gordon contracts all coming up this summer. If they’re really hoping to get out of Fournier and Biyombo’s expensive contracts, they might not be able to find a much better return than this. They get quality veterans on reasonable contracts, that all expire after next year.

Lopez and Holiday in particular have been great teammates and mentors for the younger players in their current locker room. Orlando may not have a need for Mirotic with Gordon and Isaac already on the roster, but he would be a valuable trade asset to have.
