NBA Trade Rumors: Denver Nuggets shopping Mudiay; interested in Smart
NBA Trade Rumors: The Denver Nuggets have reportedly made Emmanuel Mudiay available, and are interested in Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart
Despite all the young talent that the team currently possesses, the Denver Nuggets could very much benefit from having a veteran voice and presence in their backcourt. That’s where Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart, who is reportedly on the trade block for the right price, could potentially come into play.
The Nuggets, according to New York Times scribe Marc Stein, are reportedly interested in the soon-to-be restricted free agent. The problem is, it sounds like the Nuggets are interesting to offer Emmanuel Mudiay to Boston in the place of the first-round pick that Boston is currently asking for in any deal for Smart.
That could be the ultimate detriment from such a deal taking place between these two teams.

"[via New York Times]Denver is among the teams that has explored Marcus Smart trade scenarios with Boston, according to league sources. Emmanuel Mudiay has been made available, sources say, but the Celts covet a first-round pick for Smart"
Smart would be an ideal fit in Denver, as he could play both guard positions and could defend nearly every position 1-4 – and sometimes even centers.
Boston’s asking price, however, might be a bit high. Especially considering that Smart is a restricted free agent after the season. Even though Smart is a really good player to add for any team that is looking to make a playoff push, he’s never really been proven starter and is only averaging 10 points per game on a team that seems to maximize players. The fact that he’s a sub-30 percent shooter from 3-point range in an league that is quickly moving becoming more and more perimeter-oriented isn’t great.
