NBA Trade Rumors: With a slowing buyers market, the LA Clippers might be stuck with Lou Williams and DeAndre Jordan for the rest of the season

Two names, heading into tomorrow’s NBA trade deadline, that are pretty much expected to be moved are Lou Williams and DeAndre Jordan.

After moving Blake Griffin a couple weeks ago, it was almost a forgone conclusion that the LA Clipper were heading towards a complete and thorough rebuild. That means trading veterans and upcoming free agents Willians and Jordan.

Although, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, there’s a growing possibility that the Clippers could be stuck with both players for the remainder of the season.

More from Sir Charles In Charge

"[via ESPN]Rival teams were increasingly resigned late Tuesday night that Williams, 31, was exiting the trade market and returning to the Clippers on a multiyear contract, league sources said. The Clippers have discussed trade scenarios for center DeAndre Jordan, but league sources said that so far, no traction exists on a deal, and there’s a real possibility that Jordan will finish the season with the Clippers."

The Clippers have shown interest in extending Williams beyond this season, and could very well agree to an extension soon. As far as Jordan, however, the Clippers likely won’t be willing to pay him the max money that he’ll demand on the open market.

Interestingly, Jordan has a option clause in his contract for next season. Jordan could theoretically opt into $24 million next season, which could both help the Clippers and himself.

It would help Jordan because there simply isn’t going to be much money to go around in free agency this summer, especially with big names hitting the open market such as LeBron James, Paul George and Chris Paul.

It could help the Clippers by buying them more time to make a deal, potentially moving him during the summer.

At the same time, this could just be smoke by LA in a last ditch attempt to bump up both the trade values of Williams and Jordan.

LA is running out of time, and they have a number of moves that they could possibly make over the next couple of days. Then again, they could also stand pat and play the waiting game.
