Homecoming was a strong theme at this year’s NBA trade deadline; here are four stories of players who are getting new starts in not-so-new places

A few days have passed since this year’s NBA Trade Deadline, and after taking a few days to process it, I am officially renaming this year’s NBA Trade Deadline, the NBA Trade Giving-me-LIFE-line.

On Thursday, the NBA community saw a longtime veteran return back to where it all started – Jameer Nelson reunited with Stan Van Gundy. What? You thought I was going to say DWYANE Wade?

Jokes aside, the Trade Deadline can be a brutal time of year – not just for fans who may or may not be mourning the loss of their favorite player getting traded to a rival, like when Paul Pierce got traded to Brooklyn. No? Just me? Where was I? Oh yeah – the Trade Deadline.

As entertaining as the NBA can be off the court as it is on, it’s the off the court things that fans can forget about. No matter how much we talk about how Isaiah Thomas liked a post today of a clip of Kyrie Irving scoring with LeBron guarding him, or Jordan Clarkson literally running away from commenting after a Cavs reporter asked him if he’ll miss LaVar, the NBA is a business at the end of the day. What that translates to is that some players have to uproot their families midseason, enroll their kids in a different school, and leave behind the life they may have just started to get used to.

On the flip side of that, is that while those scenarios still apply to (most) player’s in today’s NBA, there are some players that get to come home.
