NBA Rumors: Former all-star Chris Bosh is hoping to make a return to the NBA next season, but will any team give him a chance?

It wasn’t that long ago that Chris Bosh was on top of the NBA world. He was – and still is – a two-time NBA Champion and had just inked a max deal with the Miami Heat.

LeBron James had decided to take his talents back to Cleveland, but Bosh and Dwyane Wade, both still in Miami, were supposed to lead the Heat into a new chapter post-LeBron. Unfortunately, that chapter was cut short and took an unpredictable turn of events.

After battling multiple bouts with blood clots, Bosh was essentially forced to retire. Bosh missed the second half of both the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons with these health issues. And hasn’t played in the NBA since. He failed to pass a physical with the Heat as training camp opened before the 2016-17 season.

However, roughly two years since we last saw him in an NBA uniform, he’s hoping to make one last return to the league.

Bosh tells ESPN’s First Take that he’s been in the gym and is trying to come back. What that entails is somewhat difficult to answer. It’s not known if Bosh is still on blood thinning medication, which could make him playing a contact sport all the more difficult.

Although, Bosh stating that he wouldn’t put himself in a life-threatening situation to return to the floor could give some insight into how he’s progressed over the last two seasons. That could be some good news, or at least good indication.

Even if Bosh gets clearance from his doctors, he’s going to need team doctors – and least one – to clear him in order to pass a physical. And if there’s even a small chance that Bosh could be vulnerable on the floor, I find it hard to believe that there are many, if any, team doctors out there that are going to clear him.

With that said, I don’t think many would argue that a healthy Chris Bosh back in the NBA is a feel-good story for everyone involved.
